Things that make you go mmmmmmmmmm

I have been toying with the idea of not selling any of my mini treats ie. cookie lollipops, my choco- chip cookies, gallon of milk brownie and my irresistible sweet potato cheesecake. I took a completely unscientific survey of a few of my friends (@ 15). All 15 people said that it would be a HUGE void in the world if I did not share my other treats. So it looks like I am going to listen to the masses and keep mini treats on the menu!!! Yeh, more work for me.......

The above is a picture of my M&M cookie lollipops. I made 4 dozen of these for one of my "girlz"! She decided to celebrate her sisters b-day with these crowd favorites. The finished product was actually wrapped in a clear treat bag with pink and green (AKA) colors. They were too cute but I forgot to take pictures ( have to get better at remembering).
One of my fondest childhood memories was making these treats with my mom. She is such da bomb baker. I wish that she still baked but she is fit and mostly cake free in her 50's. I guess that is why she looks like she is 30something. I love that I have good genes :-) Once I get the baby weight off (I just had a baby in April) - yeh, I know you think I am crazy for starting a business with an infant in the house but this is all apart of my journey- back to my thought, once I get the baby weight off I will look like I am 18 again ;-) I will post pictures when that happens.

Anywho, I am going to have a cuddle night(another childhood tradition that I am sharing with my kids).
Until tomorrow, Peace.

Pooped Baker

I almost forgot, here is a picture of my baker's assistant (Z-man) after all of our baking was done yesterday, please excuse the toys, I have neglected my house work this week. The backpack is the best baker's tool!!!!!!!!

I won't take nothing from my journey now!

In the words of Maya Angelou, I wouldn't take nothing from my journey now.........

I feel truly blessed to have this chance to pursue my dream. I had to take a break from writing for a good reason, I have been swamped with orders!!!!!!!!!!!
Harmony had its first "Internet search" customer, Brandon P. All of our business so far has been generated by family, friends and folks at Nalah-B's school. It was so re-assuring that someone took the time to Google cupcakes in Cincinnati and found Harmony. Brandon P. ordered Carrot Craze and Apple Cobbler for a big tailgating party that he was hosting (2 dozen of each- ya-hooooo). I was really excited and nervous about this order b/c this one person represented all the other potential customers out there (in my head that is). I wanted to truly wow him and I did!!!!!!!! He e-mailed me within minutes after Chaka made the delivery to say that the cupcakes were Yummmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyy! This was such a relief b/c I I had not really perfected my Apple Cobbler recipe unil this order. I know it is risky but that is the product developer in me. All those years of last minutes obscure requests from customers while I worked in R&D truly trained me to take risks and be ultra creative in a pinch. The Apple cobbler cake out so great that Nalah-B (the sensory queen) said that I should add it to my menu all year round. We will see. The only dilemma that I have is how to decorate the top of the Apple cobbler cupcakes. The picture on the left is of the Apple Cobbler how they were delivered to Brandon. The one on the right is a variety box of leftovers that I sent to work with Chaka. The one with the dollop of icing on top is the Apple Cobbler. I am thinking that I like the dollop better b/c it shows the streusal topping underneath.
Well, gotta run. I will post more pictures of my other orders later.

I am not my hair...........

So the 90 degree heatwave finally broke here in the Nasty Natti. But my hair has taken a true beating. I have had to cancel the last 2 appointments that I have made with my hairdresser Amy so I am about ready to take Chaka's clippers and buzz my hair off. To those who really know me, this would not take them by surprise b/c throughout my entire 20's I had no hair (the barber was my best friend and I loved it). I committed to grow my hair when my daughter Nalah turned 3 and only had about enough peach fuzz for me to lick a finger and slick it down. So for the last 3 years I have grown my hair, waiting for her hair to grow too. Now she has a full head of hair and I am ready to go back to the no maintenance natural buzz cut. The problem is this, I am about 50 lbs heavier now than I was in my 20's and most of the weight went to my head. I already had a big head that my hubby loving asks all the time, "how do you manage to hold it up". I inherited the lovely Tann noggin (my dad and brother have the same big head), but it is all good cause, Tann's are smart people, so I 'd rather have a big head full of smarts. Anwyho, I committed, after I had my son in April that I was going to be as small as my left butt cheek by this time next year. I am committed to being healthy and fit again and will not cut my hair right now b/c it will make my head look bigger than a hot air balloon.

On to the latest on Harmony. I was not productive today at all. I did not hit one thing on my to-do list but I promise that tomorrow will be different.

Until tomorrow, peace.

Places to go, people to see

Well, the list is well under way. I have written down everything that I can think of so now. I will start chipping away at it tomorrow. I am going to hit several restaurants supply and equipment stores tomorrow. I am pretty set on Chrisco but I need to have at least 2 back-ups.

I also need to remove some of the clutter in my house. I figure I better get everything in order now......

It also dawned on me that we need to start lining up daycare/ before and after school care for the kids. So much to do...............

Peace for now Buckeyes!

What to do?

The goal today is to make a to do list for Harmony Cupcakes. Every time I think of what needs to be done to get my doors open, my head literally starts to spin so today I will not go to bed until my to do list is more than half way underway. Well, I am going to get to it.

Later Buckeyes!

The Cupcake Lady

Well, Mr. B's birthday was a huge success. Chaka manned the grill, I helped Felisha get all the other food together and the cupcakes came out really well. The above are Harmony Chocolate sealed with a kiss in Mr. B's honor. I also included some cookies n cream cupcakes that are becoming my most frequently ordered cupcake. The kids had a blast and so did the adults. Of course Mr. B was very surprised. We are so blessed to have such great friends. Anywho, I am headed to bed. I have to make a huge to do list for the week. I was also up late last night doing damage control after I was made aware of a situation that could have become very sticky. Lessons were definitely learned and I am hoping to get to the bottom of the situation before the night is over. Being an entrepreneur has its challenges. I really have learned what tasks NOT to delegate. Anyway, enough of that. All in all it was a wonderful weekend. All the weekends cupcakes got rave reviews. I have a nickname that seems to be sticking, the cupcake lady. I am sure that I am not the only one out there but, in the nasty natti, I am the cupcake lady.
Until tomorrow......Peace
